As an Equipment Specialist, you will provide support and assistance to the technical authority in the development, design, evaluation, application, inspection and testing of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and other mechanical systems and related equipment.      Location: General Services Administration (GSA), National Capital Region (NCR), Public Buildings Service (PBS), Washington DC. We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.

Qualifications

NOTE: Qualifications are based on length and level of experience.  Therefore, in addition to describing duties performed, applicants must provide the exact dates of each period of employment (from month/year to month/year) and the number of hours per week if part time.  Qualification determinations cannot be made when resumes do not include the required information, so failure to provide this information may result in disqualification.For a brief video on creating a Federal resume, click here. The GS 11 salary range starts at $82,764 per year.  If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.  To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or higher in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is inspecting building systems and components to ensure sound and stable operability; reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements to assist with the development, evaluation, adaptation, implementation and improvement of energy, maintenance and management procedures, applications and guidance; and examining equipment to ensure adherence to specifications. OR Possess a PH.D or equivalent doctoral degree or have successfully completed 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR Posses a combination of graduate level education and appropriate experience that together qualify me for this position. Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker, sales or service engineer, or planner or estimator in a technical group dealing with manufacture, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment. Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements. Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements. Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders. Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met. Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement.
