As an Equipment Specialist, you will serve in the development, design, evaluation, application, inspection, testing of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment and other mechanical systems, provide support in monitoring contract administration/performance, prepare reports, develop, review estimates and make recommendations. Location: Heating Operations & Transmission Division. We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.

Duties

Provide support, input and evaluation on nationwide policies and programs, offering directions for application throughout the Region. Develop and perform projects to improve and validate existing Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment systems and other related mechanical systems.  Ensure proper operation, care, service, and repair of building systems and equipment in GSA-owned buildings and GSA-operated buildings under lease. Provide technical guidance and assistance to Public Building Services (PBS) customer service centers in the accomplishment of program goals in the maintenance management programs. Prioritize projects and coordinate work assignments with other regional specialists, engineers, and customer service center building managers.  Develop and/or recommend improved methods, procedures, proposals, expenditures for systems, equipment, technology, or facilities to increase productivity, improve service, reduce costs, and conserve resources.   Interpret contract specifications during pre-bid and/or prework conferences and in response to inquiries from prospective bidders. Prepare inspection reports. Identify and recommend solutions for problems involving building mechanical and equipment systems, lack of personnel/training requirements, materials, poor workmanship, and conditions in need of repair.

For a brief video on creating a Federal resume, click here. The GS-12salary range starts at $99,200 per year.If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.  To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is experience in the development, design, evaluation, application, inspection and testing of HVAC and other mechanical systems and related equipment. Function involves solving technical problems that require the application of a practical knowledge of mechanical equipment system design and operation. Perform inspections, provide Contracting Officer Representative (COR) support in monitoring contract administration/performance, conduct tests, prepare reports, develop, and review estimates and make recommendations of an operational nature.
