About the Position: This position is located at Irwin Intermediate School in Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg) is a military installation of the United States Army in and is one of the largest military installations in the world, with around 57,000 military personnel.

Duties

Perform a variety of school administrative functions such as student registration, student attendance, academic records maintenance, tuition status, and other related processes. Receive data and enter into the student information management database. Responsible for new student registration. Assembles and distributes to families student registration packets including a student schedule and hand book, regulations, a health record form, and other forms that might be required. Prepare a variety of letters, messages, memoranda, reports, charts, school bulletins, and other correspondence using typing and automated word processing equipment and other various software programs. Work in coordination with the administration to construct in the student information management system a viable school master schedule for teachers, e.g., times for preparation periods, lunch times, classroom teaching, etc. Implement data collection techniques for collecting and electronically transferring student grades.

Requirements

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.

  • One year probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
  • This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.

Specialized Experience for GS-05: One year of specialized experience which includes: organizing and/or collecting personnel data; utilizing office automation systems; and preparing reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Specialized experience for GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes: generating requested reports utilizing an information management system; reviewing forms or reports for accuracy; and providing assistance to staff members. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement for GS-05: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04). Time in Grade Requirement for GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). If you are a current, Federal employee, you must include your pay plan, series and grade in your work experience(s) on your resume submission and/or upload supporting documentation (within-grade increase SF50) to show that you meet the time-in-grade requirement. In addition, if your step reflects '00', you must include your current salary for each position.

Education
