The NIA Office of Communications and Public Liaison (OCPL) directs a comprehensive, integrated, and technology-supported communications program to ensure rapid, accurate, and consistent communication activities. The incumbent serves as a Technical Information Specialist within the Web and Design Services team developing and advising on digital information communications to provide information products and services to various audiences.
Duties
Perform a broad range of duties and functions involving digital information communications for NIA.
Provide expertise and guidance in digital information communications accessibility to ensure NIA's compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and access for all audiences to NIA's information products and services.
Collaborate with technical staff, content creators, and other stakeholders to enhance the usability, accessibility, and performance of NIA's digital communications.
Research and recommend strategies to gather and analyze information to develop novel digital solutions.
Provide technical support for the NIA website, intranet, and other digital platforms.
Collect digital analytics statistics and develop reports.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for a Technical Information Specialist, GS-1412 position you must have:
A. a full 4-year course of study that meets all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in the subject-matter field of the position to be filled; OR
B. 4 years of experience that provided a knowledge of the basic principles, theories, practices, techniques, and terminology of a discipline or subject-matter field; an understanding of the standard methods, procedures, and techniques of research and analysis in the subject-matter field; and where appropriate, ability to read and comprehend nontechnical material in one or more foreign languages. Such experience is equivalent to that which would have been gained through a 4-year college curriculum; OR
C. a combination of education and experience as described above.
In addition, in order to qualify for a Technical Information Specialist, GS-1412 position at the GS-12 level, you must have:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:
retrieving and evaluating technical information materials on the specialized information;
reviewing projects or contracts of technical information systems for accuracy and completeness;
preparing digital content reports to recommend updates to owners; and
collecting digital communications material, such as a performance matrix, to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
In addition, in order to qualify for a Technical Information Specialist, GS-1412 position at the GS-13 level, you must have:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:
managing technical information programs and requirements by analyzing performance metrics, workflows, operating procedures, and organizational records management;
administering projects or contracts of digital information communications systems, services, or content;
conducting studies and evaluations of digital information communications to develop methods for improvement; and
interacting with technical staff to analyze digital information communications programs and address issues.
