Duties

Plans and manages the day-to-day food service program where full-service restaurant dining and catering are a regular, substantial basis of the total food operation. Develops daily, catering, and specialty menus; provides forecasts for required tools, equipment, food items, and other supplies. Develops operating budget and identifies labor, equipment, and supply cost elements. Conducts regular inspections and evaluations to ensure safety, proper food storage, kitchen sanitation, and overall efficiency of operations. Provides a full range of supervisory functions to include performance management, training and development, employee recognition, and conflict resolution.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Must be willing to accept a varying or rotating shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to obtain (within first 6 months of employment) and maintain a Food Protection Manager Certification acquired through an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited agency.
  • The dual compensation guidelines DO NOT apply to this position. All GS and NAF employees holding flexible positions are eligible to apply for this position.

Qualifications

One (1) year of culinary management experience in full-service restaurants and catering operations which included various cooking styles or techniques; menu planning; inventory and supply management; and staff supervision. This experience must be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position. Highly Preferred Criteria: Experience as an assistant/sous chef OR Successful completion of an accredited culinary program. The experience/education/certification must be reflected on your resume and your degree/transcript/certification uploaded at the time of application to be considered a highly preferred candidate. Applicants meeting the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred first to the Selecting Official. All other applicants will be referred for consideration if the certificate (referral list) is returned with no selection.
