You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (WATER SURVIVAL) in the BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY (BUMED) of NMOTC DET NSTI ASTC PENSACOLA.

Duties

You will perform duties as the Diving Supervisor for diving operations and NASTP training device 9D6 and the Shallow Water Initial Memory Mechanical Exit Release (SWIMMER) and the Modular Shallow Water Egress Trainer (MSWET). You will maintain records for: diving qualifications (Dive Logs), conducting preventative maintenance on systems (PMS, and diving system certifications. You will prepare document records and equipment for Diving Operations Readiness Assessments/ Inspections and safety surveys. You will perform as the primary class and laboratory instructor regarding, Survival Swimming, Extended Sea Survival, Helicopter Rescue, use of Aviation Life Support Systems (ALSS) and JQR training for assigned staff to qualify as instructors. You will apply safety protocol and procedures to provide a safe training environment for all students and staff. You will inspect and maintain the Helicopter Aircrew Breathing Device (HABD/SEA-LV2). You will evaluate student performance in training device 9D6, the SWIMMER and MSWET.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Must obtain and maintain diver, high risk instructor, CPR and USN Lifeguard certifications.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience inspecting, maintaining, and the upkeep of installed diving system and diving equipment. Experience instructing underwater egress, underwater breathing, and survival swimming Operating training devices or simulators. Maintaining records for diving qualifications (Dive Logs), for diving operational readiness inspections and safety surveys. Utilizing diving physics, diving medicine, diving techniques, and proper use of diving equipment in accordance with established guidance(s), (e.g. U.S. Navy Diving Manual (NAVSEA SS521-AG-PRO-010). Experience using an automated system (e.g., management information system, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) to extract information. Experience preparing reports and maintaining documents in electronic files for easy retrieval. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related or Have a combination of education and experience.
