About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Tidewater Market. It is located within the Education and Training Office, Graduate Medical Education, Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia (NMCP). The primary purpose of this position is to allow for the continual accreditation of the Residency training program.

Duties

Assist the Program Director in the development of faculty and administrative staffing plans. Implementation of the training curriculum and the documentation of trainee performance. Resolve administrative problems which may arise related to the intern/residency training program. Interpret guidance from all levels of the hospital for incorporation into the curriculum-planning guide. Prepare and track travel requests for residents and teaching staff, cross checking with schedules for conflicting commitments. Carry out the operational and administrative duties pertinent to the conduct of the Graduate Medical Education Programs. Prepares comprehensive reports, including recommendations to improve coordination, planning, administration and management.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A Secret Clearance check is required.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. Incumbent will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business or Resource Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsInformation ManagementManages and Organizes InformationOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
