You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT) in the IT Department of STRIKE FIGHTER WING PACIFIC STAFF.

Duties

You will coordinate and manage the procurement, delivery, and life-cycle management of Communications and Information Systems (CIS) hardware and services in support of staff member technology requirements and requests for services. You will consult with customers to analyze and translate functional needs and issues. You will perform analysis of requirements and work methods to identify efficient and effective solution recommendations and alternative approaches or modifications. You will consult with Customer Technical Representatives (CTRs) and service providers to maintain advances in CIS services and to identify and/or develop nonstandard solutions to support complex end-user CIS requirements. You will manage the Telephone/Communications Service Request (TSR/CSR) and delivery process. You will ensure all requirements for Information Assurance and Cyber Security are applied to CSFWP managed systems in compliance with DoD, DoN, CPF, CNAF and CSFWP instructions and directives. You will prepare and maintain required systems configuration, certification and accreditation documentation. You will serve as the serves as the CSFWP Website, Portal, and Share Drive administrator. You will apply customer service and customer support principles and methods through oral and written communication techniques.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 40, proficiency level II the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Maintaining a database of assets for equipment tracking. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing continuing technical oversight as Help/Work Desk technical point-of-contact. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Instructing computer use and software applications either as a one-on-one or in a classroom. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Responding to system shutdowns, interruptions, failures and analyzes problems, to determine reasons and affects repair. In addition to the experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: providing information technology customer support services (installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, training etc.) to ensure IT systems operate with reliability and efficiently for an organization.
