About the Position: This position is a Permanent Supervisory Range Training Specialist, GS-0301-09 located with the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS) at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Duties

Advises and assists commanders and staff officers from active and reserve units training at Fort Jackson in implementing their training plans. Trains and teaches subordinates in Range safety Writes Memorandum of Instruction, exception to policy for the G3 or Commanding General’s approval. Reviews the workload and makes inspection of range activities as necessary to ensure compliance with policy, and priorities established by higher headquarters, procedural, and regulatory requirements. Advises unit personnel on the capabilities and limitations of all weapons used in military training at Fort Jackson.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Requires completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.

• Requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

• This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
