About the Position: Serves as an Environmental Protection Specialist for the Tooele Army Depot.
Duties
Independently plan and conduct a range of complex compliance reviews for Tooele Army Depot (TEAD).
Provide expertise, advice and assistance to key Directorate management officials and technical personnel concerning difficult environmental concerns.
Review economic considerations, outline application processes and furnish data on proposed requirements.
Periodically inspect and evaluate TEAD environmental facilities to assure compliance with state, federal and army environmental regulations and inspections.
Assure all steps are taken to avoid environmental violations and take corrective measures as required.
Review programs or projects and provide comments to ensure necessary information is considered and included.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must successfully complete training in hazardous waste management procedures within six (6) months after date of appointment. Must also participate in annual review of this training.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Conducting environmental analyses for planning, construction, resource management, contracting, or operation and maintenance activities; 2) Providing input and advice to management and technical personnel on difficult environmental concerns; 3) Applying project management skills to ensure programs and/or projects are compliant with state, federal and army environmental regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
