You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist (Shipbuilding) in the Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE)/Deep Submergence Scope of Certification (DSS-SOC)/Fly by Wire Ship Control System (FBW SCS) Program Office of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING GROTON.

Duties

You will assist the SUBSAFE/DSS-SOC/FBW SCS Program Director and Deputy SUBSAFE/DSS-SOC/FBW SCS Program Directors in assuring proper implementation and execution of the SUBSAFE/DSS-SOC/FBW SCS Program within SUPSHIP Groton. You will ensure that both SUPSHIP and shipbuilder instructions, procedures, processes, and quality programs fully comply with all requirements necessary to support submarine SUBSAFE/DSS-SOC/FBW SCS certification. You will organize, plan, direct and audit the Supervisors SUBSAFE/DSS-SOC/FBW SCS Program. You will ensure the accuracy, adequacy , completeness and timeliness of internal SUBSAFE/DSS-SOC/FBW SCS certification audits/surveys to support NAVSEA audits/surveys. You will review, develop , prepare and present SUBSAFE/DSS-SOC/FBW SCS training . You will prepare all SUBSAFE/DSS-SOC/FBW SCS certification messages/letters for new construction and maintenance availabilities. You will plan, schedule and conduct certification and functional audits/surveys of SUPSHIP and shipbuilder SUBSAFE/DSS-SOC/FBW SCS procedures, processes and programs . You will review work in progress in SUBSAFE/DSS-SOC/FBW SCS areas both onsite and offsite .

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting quality assurance functions or activities (e.g. audits, surveys, contractor surveillance, assessments, or inspections) on submarine construction, overhaul, maintenance operations or projects to support certification efforts for a submarine safety program (e.g. SUBSAFE, Fly-By-Wire Ship Control System (FBW-SCS), or Deep Submergence Scope of Certification (DSS SOC)).
