The primary purpose of this position is to maintain ongoing prototype systems; implement maintenance and repair on major modifications of systems; maintain complex systems that have frequent engineering changes; operate and maintain complex computerized automated test equipment.
Duties
Maintains ongoing prototype systems; implements maintenance and repair procedures on major modifications of systems assigned to the activity; and maintains unusually complex systems that have frequent engineering changes.
Sets up and operates complex software controlled automated test equipment (ATE) to troubleshoot and repair prototype systems; systems on which major modifications have been made; and unusually complex systems that have frequent engineering change.
Uses and maintains hand tools such as screwdrivers, drills, wrenches, soldering irons, and micro soldering units.
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Keeps abreast of new and emerging state of the art and state of the market technologies.
Documents work assignments through the use of AFTO Form 781 series and Core Automated Maintenance Systems (CAMS) computer terminals.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment Installation And Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
