About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobility and Operations Division on Fort Hood, TX. Ft Hood is nicknamed The Great Place because of the quality of life the post and area offer Soldiers and their families.
Duties
Serve as the USAG Fort Cavazos Operations Officer representing the Plans and Operations Division, DPTMS and Operations Branch at meetings, briefings and conferences involving operational/tasking related issues.
Determine necessary coordination requirements with staff agencies and personally makes contacts with staff action agents and/or their immediate supervisors to develop and finalize executable tasking orders.
Operate in an automation environment, using available communication and office management software.
Serve as an additional Emergency Management Specialist in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) maintaining a high degree of readiness and preparation to commence operations immediately during a potential or actual disaster.
Facilitate the rapid and timely dissemination of information by utilizing various communication means available within the EOC, such as the Army Message Handling Service (AMHS) and Secure and Non-secure e-mail.
Coordinate tasking with Operations Chief in requests and mission assignments and facilitates coordination with installation support activities, state and local agencies and from the FEMA and other Federal agencies.
Completing requisite reports, tracking comments through resolution, establishing and executing the requisite awards program. Ensures Command is aware of current and future projected trends.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require a one year probationary period.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Incumbent may be required to be on-call during non-duty hours in the event of a full scale incident until normal operations resume.
- This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station by military, commercial aircraft or motor vehicle on temporary duty (TDY) less than 20% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in planning, directing, coordinating operations such as contingencies, exercises, and/or activities and events. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
