This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, Division of Financial Management.
Duties
At the full performance level (GS-11) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Analyzing process flows, reviewing data in reports and financial statements, and identifying abnormal trends.
Participates in the planning and performance of financial management studies that involve the analysis of interrelated administrative processes of budgetary, financial, procurement, and property management functions.
Preparing straight forward reports and statements that contain timely, accurate, and essential financial management information.
Recommending adaptation of established procedures eliminate problems or to improve the operations under study; participating in the review and evaluation of financial systems.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. citizen
- Subject to financial disclosure requirements. You cannot own any direct or indirect financial interest in a coal mining operation
- Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered for Selective Service or meet an approved exemption
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
- Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying.
Specialized Experience To qualify for the GS-09, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Experience in accounts receivable and/or debt collection; using electronic check depositing such as OTCnet or other check depositing software and using Microsoft Excel.
OR
Master's or Equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degre
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related
Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level.You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Education: If this position requires specific educational course work to qualify, or you are qualifying based in whole or part on education, you are required to provide transcripts as proof of meeting the requirements.
Foreign Education: Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the specific educational requirements as stated above. You must provide acceptable documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
