You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER in the DEPARTMENT OF NEUROLOGY (NEU) of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.
Duties
You will consult and work with other offices to accomplish administrative matters regarding finance, procurement, contracts, facilities, space, travel, logistics, etc., and to resolve problem issues.
You will review department policies, practices, procedures, and/or programs to assure maximum utilization of allocated funds, manpower, materials, and space.
You will analyze departmental practices and procedures dealing with personnel, funds, classroom, office, and seminar space, together with equipment and materials.
You will develop, write, or revise operating instructions, SOP’s, memoranda, and other correspondence to implement new and improved processes, management practices, and internal controls concerning administrative practices, procedures, or programs.
You will prepare and coordinate actions related to recruitment, classification, reorganizations, performance management, awards, training, faculty appointment/promotion actions. Completes verification of appointments for credentialing purposes.
You will assist managers in preparing position descriptions, performance plans, award nominations, and recruitment and faculty packages.
You will prepare or oversee the preparation of various recurring and special administrative reports on operations such as personnel, travel expenditures, budget, procurement, internal controls, space utilization, and equipment.
You will interpret budget policies and practices and prepares budget information, estimates, and/or reports including cost for personnel services, travel, training, supplies, and equipment needs, and briefs superiors or staff as required.
You will report obligations and expenditures and prepares rational for justifying and defending unfunded requirements. Monitors and recommends reallocation of funds for effective use of funds or to preclude unauthorized procurements.
You will oversee the administrative aspects of the development of the department's educational activities to include finance and budget activities and educational evaluation tools.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing administrative support; performs finance/budget functions, travel, and recruitment and staffing assistance for a department.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
Possession of an LL.M., if related to the position be filled.
or
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
