About the Position: This position will serve as an Operations Research Analyst with the Fires Capabilities Development Integration Directorate (CDID), US Army Futures Command located at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Duties
Conducts complex studies covering military research and evaluation of the systems, weapons, organizations, doctrine and tactics of fire support systems for use by the army in the field against current and future gaps.
Applies mathematical and statistical techniques in evaluating fire support capabilities at all echelons of employment
Responsible for developing and maintaining all Fires gaps in capabilities in the Forge database.
Responsible for conducting Capability Needs Assessments and Functional Solution Analysis using analytical tools to determine what solutions are required to mitigate gaps in capability.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 35% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. You MUST submit a copy of your transcript with your application package or you will be rated ineligible.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes the following: Design and conduct analytical studies to support Defense Acquisition programs; Perform data mining large raw data sets to create usable information to support analytical studies; Utilize statistical software tools such as MS Excel with statistics add-ons, matrix evaluator, or other statistical software to support analytical studies; and Communicate (written/oral) technical data to higher senior officials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
