About the Position: This position will serve as an Operations Research Analyst with the Analysis Branch, Requirements Determination Division, (RDD) of the Fires Capabilities Development and Integration Directorate (CDID), Futures and Concepts Center (FCC), US Army Futures Command located at Fort Sill, OK.

Duties

Evaluate the operational effectiveness of existing and proposed Field Artillery and Air Defense systems using analytical tools, mathematics, and modeling and simulations. Use general mathematical analysis, sampling, queuing, other statistical techniques, and automated mathematical models. Apply subject matter expertise to evaluate current and emerging technologies in scientific fields to include weapons, radars, and missile systems. Present study results, findings, conclusions, options, and recommendations to higher commands.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Travel away from the duty location is up to 25% of the time (TDY).
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. (NOTE: You must upload the transcripts.) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: For the GS-12:Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Perform operations research analysis theories, techniques, and concepts of major weapons systems with consideration of their requirements, concomitant military operations, strategies, and tactics; (2) Apply mathematical and statistical methods to plan, coordinate, and execute studies including developing algorithms and survey tools; (3) Apply data collection and analysis techniques; (4) Experience of documenting and presenting information on study findings through briefings and technical materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-12 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
