About the Position: This position is located within the Defense Health Agency, under the (J-3) Operations and (J-35) Plans Divisions, in Falls Church, Virginia.

Duties
Serve as the Chief, Plans, Exercises, and Readiness (PLEX-R) Division (J-35), responsible for policy, plans, readiness, and exercise formulation and interpretation, Future Operations (FUOPS), program planning and direction, and resource management.
Monitor planning, programming, and budgeting activities impacting major programs which would impact division efforts.
Lead operational planning groups/teams in the development and maintenance of internal operational support plans and ensures preparation for, and execution of, the Agency’s combat support mission.
Coordinate directly with other Directorates, CCMDs, Service Components, and the Joint Staff to oversee the development and continuous management of the DHA Joint Mission Essential Task List (JMETL).
Oversee DHA’s Exercises and Lessons Learned Team assessing overall program effectiveness and ensuring compliance with published guidance and standards
Plan the work to be accomplished by subordinates and assigns work to subordinates based on priorities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access. A pre-employment and recurring comprehensive background investigations are required.
- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes leading the work of subordinates to ensure program objectives are being met, providing technical guidance to subordinates and/or management regarding program readiness, conducting studies/analysis to determine medical capability needs and developing internal operational support plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
