This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command, Transportation Command. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as senior Computer Scientist for the Systems Engineering and Testing Branch within the USTRANSCOM Program Executive Office (TRANSCOM PEO-T) supporting the Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS).

As a COMPUTER SCIENTIST at the NH-1550-4 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Serve as senior Computer Scientist for the Systems Engineering and Testing Branch within the USTRANSCOM Program Executive Office (TRANSCOM PEO-T)
Direct the development of advanced concepts of automation and information processing display, control, and transfer.
Advise/oversee project team and/or performs program area support for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software Program.
Oversee capability planning focused on the delivery of strategic business capabilities addressed within cloud computing and data engineering solutions.
Oversee/influence development of acquisition strategies to rapidly deploy capabilities within a commercial cloud environment.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the NH-04, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03 (GS-13) grade level in the Federal service, military, or private sector:
Conducting or directing activities or assisting higher levels on challenging and innovative system integration and data activities.
Performing various duties associated with the application of, or research into, computer science methods and techniques to store, manipulate, transform, or present information.
Overseeing capability planning focused on the delivery of strategic business capabilities addressed within cloud computing and data engineering solutions.
Overseeing development of software road maps; to include scheduling Commercial-off-the-Shelf product upgrades, functional land technical requirements, cybersecurity related patches or remediation, and software defects.
Working with software development teams to plan, analyze, design, develop, test, deploy, implement, integrate, troubleshoot, document, and maintain software applications as well as maintaining the security posture.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 1550, series as listed below:
A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
Completion of Professional Military Education (PME) - Senior Developmental Education (SDE) or Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) II is highly desirable

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
