This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command. The incumbent serves as senior Computer Scientist within the USTRANSCOM Program Executive Office (USTRANSCOM PEO).

As a COMPUTER SCIENTIST at the NH-1550-4 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Plans, organizes, and exercises control over software engineering activities for USTRANSCOM's Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS)
Responsible for software engineering and system management services that support the USTRANSCOM PEO, Program Executive Officer (PEO), and the PEO staff.
Works as part of an integrated team to manage and control USTRANSCOM Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for JTMS.

- This position is designated a CRITICAL Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position (CAP) Category: N -Engineering and Technical Management Level: Practitioner. (See "Additional Information" section below)

Qualifications
You may qualify at the NH-04, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03 (GS-13) grade level in the Federal service, military, or private sector:
Conducting or directing activities or assisting higher levels on challenging and innovative system integration and data activities.
Performing various duties associated with the application of, or research into, computer science methods and techniques to store, manipulate, transform, or present information.
Overseeing capability planning focused on the delivery of strategic business capabilities addressed within cloud computing and data engineering solutions.
Overseeing development of software road maps, to include scheduling Commercial-off-the-Shelf product upgrades, functional land technical requirements, cybersecurity related patches or remediation, and software defects.
Working with software development teams to plan, analyze, design, develop, test, deploy, implement, integrate, troubleshoot, document, and maintain software applications as well as maintaining the security posture.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
Completion of Professional Military Education (PME) Senior Developmental Education (SDE) or Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) II is highly desirable but not mandatory.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
