About the Position: Serves as an Environmental Protection Specialist, GS-0028-12, located at the Blue Grass Army Depot, in Richmond Kentucky.
Duties
Reviews environmental programs to ensure waste minimization, pollution prevention and sustainment of the environment (air, land and water).
Develops and maintains environmental management programs in accordance with laws, executive orders and regulations.
Serves as principal compliance coordinator responsible for development and execution of the installation's environmental programs.
Provides advice and assistance to environmental staff with documentation for programs and projects.
Conducts internal and external audits to evaluate compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Coordinates briefings through various communication methods to report on environmental compliance, inspections and regulatory site visits.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position may require participation in the Chemical Incident or Mishap Response and Assistance (CIMRA) situations and serve on teams dedicated to mitigating CIMRA situations, after being trained for the particular duty.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Planning, implementing environmental programs and services to determine needs, assisting lower graded specialists; developing, reviewing and routing permit applications to approval; reviewing budgets; providing required training to the workforce, and performing compliance oversight for environmental programs to ensure regulations and requirements are met. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-11).
