You will serve as a STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST (SHIPS) in the OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF THE NAVY of OFFSECNAV WASHINGTON DC.

Duties

You will serve as the subject matter expert of strategic engagements and partnerships related to the ship ceremony program, overseeing strategic communication, outreach and engagement, and partnership and building initiatives. You will develop key messaging and communication materials for stakeholders. You will work independently managing the ship ceremony program. You will be responsible for coordinating with the Public Affairs Specialist to manage, monitor, coordinate, and track performance communication, outreach, and partnership-building activities. You will develop sentiment analysis and analyze public affairs responses to measure the effectiveness of the ship ceremony program. You will oversee the responses to public correspondence and their social media work including work for members in public affairs as needed. You will perform public affairs officer duties (as needed) including supporting travel, drafting speeches, talking points and press releases.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience planning and coordinating strategic engagements that involve external stakeholders and experience developing communication materials for organizational leaders addressing issues affecting service members and civilian employees.
