Duties
This position is part of the DoD, Department of Defense . The incumbent will be responsible for participating in top-level agency decision-making planning meetings and exercises.

As a SECURITY SPECIALIST at the NH-0080-4 level some of your typical work assignments may include: Defines, coordinates and recommends a comprehensive and coherent security and program protection policy for complex weapons systems.
Applies physical security, electronic security, information security and anti-terrorism/force protection methods and processes to develop policies and procedures that provide security solutions to complex problems.
Serve as the physical security lead for the design, construction and fielding of complex weapon systems in support of FMS cases.
Serves as the technical authority for the development, coordination, implementation, management, and oversight of all physical security planning aspects including electronic security system (ESS) operations, closed circuit television systems (CCTV), and active/passive barrier systems.
Resolves ESS technical and fielding issues for hardware/software in the design, installation, and operations. Reviews planning for new system expansion designs for conformance to established design techniques, standards, and regulations.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the NH-04 broadband level if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03/GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. You must have two of the following:
Experience with the development and fielding of complex weapons systems.
Experience with physical security operations, plans, procedures, policies, and regulations involving threat assessment, vulnerability identification, and Electronic Security monitoring systems to implement level guidance and to resolve major problems in policy and policy implementation.
Experience with Electronic Security Systems hardware and software (interior and exterior intrusion sensors, alarm annunciation and display equipment, closed circuit television, and automated access control devices) utilized to provide protection to national critical assets and infrastructure.
Experience with state-of-the-art technology within the physical security discipline to plan, design, the installation of complex physical security systems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
