Duties
Perform repairs, overhaul, troubleshoot, and testing of medical equipment and any peripheral devices.
Conducts preventative maintenance checks and services inspections of medical equipment.
Installs, configures, and troubleshoots networks and application server hardware, operating system hardware, and peripheral network equipment.
Prepares and conducts training of procedures, techniques, and methods of operation for testing and calibrating medical systems for staff personnel.
Serve as an adviser for special projects involving the installation, service and repair of complex medical equipment and systems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 60 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes identifying medical equipment malfunctions and/or manufacturing defects to recommend solutions; coordinating with medical staff and/or medical equipment manufacturers to set up equipment and systems compliant with specifications; testing medical equipment in current use to determine serviceability and disposition to meet mission requirements.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
