The purpose of this position is to serve as the lead IT Technical expert in information Technology systems information assurance (security) architeture, integration, interoperability and policy in integrating warfighter requirements and capabilities to develop enterprise-level information assurance architectures for the AF IT Infrastructure.

Duties

1. Serves as a technical expert in the architecting, design, and implementation of information assurance technology systems. 2. Provides technical, managerial, procedural and policy guidance on information assurance matters. 3. Develops, maintains and reviews information assurance-related architectural procedural requirements, planning and policy documents for interoperability and integration issues. 4. Participates in exercises/ demonstrations. 5. Represents AF-NIC information assurance position at meetings and conferences.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series, GS-2210 (Alternate A). https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/2200/information-technology-it-management-series-2210-alternative-a/??? Experience: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which includes experience in applying advanced IT concepts, Principals and practices of communication, information assurance systems, and network sufficient to serve as a technical authority for complex and difficult assignments that impact both the employing and other agencies/ departments. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Expert knowledge of communication and information assurance systems and facilities, practices and methodology equivalent to those used both in Government and industry. 2. Expert knowledge of technical communications and information systems management regarding oversight and performance management and knowledge of information assurance hardware, software, networks, and operating configurations, policies and procedures. 3. Expert technical knowledge of communication and information systems maintenance programs acquisition programs and security programs concepts techniques, policies, and principals. 4. knowledge and skill in applying a full range of network systems (LAN/ WAN) design principals, methodologies and approaches used in developing testing installing operating, managing, securing and maintaining network services that support functional requirements. 5. Knowledge of trends in present and emerging communication and information assurance systems. 6. Ability to speak and write effectively for the purpose of understanding and discussing technical concepts with key government officials, military and civilian personal. 7. Extensive knowledge of and skill to develop communication and information assurance systems policy plans and procedures. 8. Ability to make accurate decisions under pressure of tight deadlines, present policy and program ideas, gain cooperation and stimulate action. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
