You will serve as a INSULATOR in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will develop patterns and lays out, cuts, forms, joins, assembles, and installs all types of insulating materials. You will measure and identify dimensions of irregular shaped valves, flanges, fittings, and other unique or one-of-a-kind structures. You will plan and lay out the work using parallel and radial line development and the principles of triangulation to prepare patterns, templates, and sketches of the items to be covered You will use a variety of blueprints, drawings, and other specifications to construct the insulating forms into desired shapes. You will select materials (e.g., tape, foam, polyurethane) needed to complete insulation projects.

Qualifications

Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Installing and removing insulation on heating systems, waterlines, fuel oil lines, tanks, ducts, valves, low and high pressure gas and oil fired boilers, and walk-in-freezers and chill boxes; 2) Constructing containment area that will withstand the required negative pressure for proper removal of asbestos; and 3) Utilizing the prescribed methods for handling asbestos spill or dangerous asbestos exposure situations.
