You will serve as a INSULATOR WORKER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will work from blueprints, sketches, or drawings to complete insulation tasks.
You will fabricate molded sections of insulation by cutting segments, fitting parts, and cementing them together.
You will use tools to bend, assemble, and install all types of insulation.
You will work from templates or instructions to install insulation.
You will interpret sketches and specifications to determine the type of insulating material to use.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You may be required to obtain and maintain a current license for the operation of Forklifts, High Lifts (JLG), and/or Construction Equipment.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain current certification and licenses as require performing such duties.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current respirator certification.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1) Using various types of insulating materials such as cork, asbestos, magnesia, and spun glass; 2) Fabricating molded sections of insulation for special parts by cutting various segments of insulation with miter box, fitting different parts together and cementing them; 3) Insulating surfaces of pipes, ducts, valves, fittings, flanges, boilers, tanks, turbines, evaporators, refrigerating units, and similar structures; and 4) Mixing asbestos cements and mastics and applying them with a trowel.
