About the Position:Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York.
Duties
Serves as engineering technician to design various items such as electrical systems, i.e., dredging, concrete forming, placing and finishing, and utilities for an organization.
Develops and maintains up-to-date construction records of cost bid results, changes and trends for an organization.
Incorporates design data in the development of design sketches, layouts, and details for preparation of preliminary, working and final drawings created in the Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) systems.
Develops alternative designs for use in determining the most feasible and economical alternates.
Reviews and evaluates shop drawings for accuracy; reviews samples and material certificates to ensure contract specifications are adhered to for the agency.
Visits job sites while work is in progress or upon completion to assure that specifications are adequate, that user requirements are being met and that work is compatible with existing facilities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure (OGE-450) and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
- Travel away from normal duty station (TDY) 5%.
- Appointment may be subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
