This position is located in the office of the Clinical Director at the Pine Ridge IHS Hospital. The incumbent is responsible for the management of all aspects of the credentialing and privileging program for the medical staff.
Duties
Obtains verification of medical school graduation and education from issuing organization; verifies state licensure; assembles all information into a credentials file per office operating instructions.
Interviews a variety of medical professionals, hospital employees, and mangers to clarify and coordinate medical staff credentialing priorities.
Protects the confidentiality of sensitive information involving medical staff membership, credentialing, privileging and actions.
Maintains expertise in new regulations, laws, and accreditation standards. Reviews each application and its applicable "verifications" looking for inconsistencies or gaps in information and reports findings.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: records proceedings, prepares and finalizes actions for signature and conducts follow up; coordinates medical staff information and privileging; initiates and processes applications for medical staff membership and clinical privileges, initiates background research on all applicants. Uses computer software programs to manage medical staff credentialing and privileging progress. OR, successfully completed 4 years of education beyond the high school level.
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: process applications for consulting and regular staff membership and clinical privileges; manage a variety of reports and data to include appropriate tracking systems for quarterly service unit documentation; assist employees with background clearance forms and automated background investigation system; initiate procedures for verifying and authenticating licenses and certificates; coordinate travel and/or meeting arrangements.
GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: coordinate presentation of health care professional applications for credentialing and privileging determination; prepare requests for completion of background investigation; coordinate personal service contracts for health care coverage and services; maintains expertise in new regulations, laws, and accreditation standards; reviews each application and its applicable verifications looking into inconsistencies or gaps in information and reports findings.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
