Duties
Serves as a Lead IT Cyber Security Specialist with responsibility for providing leadership to an assigned team of specialists which are responsible for ensuring the integrity of Department of Defense IA/INFOSEC functions and requirements.
As team lead, ensures that the organizations strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to team members and integrated into strategies, goals, objectives, work plans, products, and services.
Identifies, distributes, and balances workload and tasks among employees in accordance with work flow, skill level, and occupational specialization, and monitors work progress and status.
Prepares reports and records of work accomplishments, administration information, and work materials as required and prepares information for supervisor on project progress.
Serves as coach, facilitator and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives, and maintains knowledge to answer questions from team members regarding policies, procedures, and directives.
Provides technical guidance, analysis, advice and trouble-shooting/problem resolution on enterprise IT services.
Evaluates IT methods, techniques, and procedures to determine their overall efficiency and make recommendations to leadership.
Enforces all applicable security policies and safeguards for all personnel having access to the location’s various information systems.
Develops mid and long range strategic information security plans and ensures information security plans are prepared for all sensitive and classified systems.
Performs studies to monitor and improve or enhance information security-related projects.

Oral Communication- briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience
Problem Solving- identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions
In addition to the Basic Competency Requirements listed above, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as Providing expertise and technical guidance on applying information systems security principles, concepts, and methods sufficient to review proposed new systems and software designs for potential security risks; facilitates developing and implementing guidance to protect information technology systems, overseeing system security certifications, conducting security audits, and identifying IT risk and vulnerabilities.
