About the Position: You will serve as a Senior Realty Specialist responsible for management and disposal activities in the Memphis District (MVM). Responsibilities also include management and disposal support of real estate requirements for the Mississippi Valley Division (MVD).

Duties

Monitor the status and progress of work, and make day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities. Apply real estate transfer principles and procedures to complete acquisition of real property for Federal and Federally assisted civil works projects and programs. Maintain current knowledge and answers questions of other employees on procedures, policies and directives. Participate in negotiations with Federal or state agencies concerning the terms and conditions of licenses for the management of the lands purchased to mitigate for adverse project impacts. Obtain appropriate curative instruments such as deeds, outgrants, human habitation releases, etc.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The duties of this position require occasional temporary duty (TDY) travel.
  • You are required to travel by all normal modes of transportation to accomplish assigned duties.
  • You must possess valid driver's license and be able and willing to utilize government-furnished vehicles. Note: you MUST upload a copy of your driver's license as part of your application.
  • This is NOT a full-time, remote position. The duty station is Memphis, TN. There may be an opportunity to telework a portion of the work week.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) planning and completing special and complex real estate Management and Disposal activities; 2) negotiating agreements on the basis of appraised value; evaluating counteroffers in excess of appraised fair value; 3) recommending rejection, acceptance of Licenses, Permits; and 5) attending meetings to explain and support the Management and Disposal program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Real Estate Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
