This position is located in GAO's Office of Inspector General (OIG). As an OIG Analyst/Assistant Director in the OIG's Office of Audit, you will report to the OIG's Assistant Inspector General for Audit and be responsible for planning and conducting audits and reviews of GAO programs, operations, and activities, and reporting results in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards.

Duties

Independently manages and performs all aspects of single or multiple engagements or projects to produce timely reports. The incumbent plans, conducts, and reports on audit, evaluation, and other work, including non-audit services and administrative tasks, under the general guidance of OIG management (IG, DIG, and AIGA). Provides support, including advice, consultations, assistance, and quality assurance tasks for audits, evaluations, and other work. Provides vision, direction, and focus to the assigned engagement to align audit, evaluation, and other work to accomplish OIG strategic goals and ensure the soundness of engagement/project design and the effective utilization of OIG resources. Implements and monitors engagement or project planning and contributes to the improvement of OIG operations through advanced use of technology and process improvements. Supports accountability, integrity, and reliability by advising OIG management of progress or problems; representing the OIG in discussions with GAO officials and others, as appropriate; and producing or assisting others to produce clear and logical products that are targeted to the audience in terms of scope and reflect the value of the work done.

Requirements

Qualifications

Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower band level (PE-IIB, PA-II, PT-III, MS-I), or at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, which has equipped the applicant with the skills and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience leading performance audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards for the Government Accountability Office, an Office of Inspector General, or another federal audit organization.
