The primary purpose of this position is to accomplish the repositioning and moving of various types of PDM aircraft in rework hangars and other various type airframes and offload/load flight safety equipment, at this installation on Days and Shifts.

Duties

Operate specialized heavy-duty to tactors where maneuverability is restricted and accuracy is critical. Inventories Life Support equipment (-21) upon arrival and departure of PDM aircraft. Operates diesel/gas/electric powered fork lift trucks capable of lifting loads weighing less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches. Works with Hazardous Materials and/or generates hazardous waste.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles)* Reliability and Dependability as a Tractor Operator PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. WORK ENVIROMENT: Work primarily outside and operates vehicles in natural extremes of hot and cold weather conditions and high noise levels (85) decibels. May be exposed to JP-5/JP-8 jet fuel, chemical dust and sprays, dust, dirt, grease, and/or fumes and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents when loading and unloading -21 equipment. Follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment to avoid injury and possible hazards in the work area. Works on steep slopes and in rough terrain, and may be subject to injury from falls or overturned tractors and equipment
