The primary purpose of this position is: To be the Tractor Operator expert performing the most difficult aircraft moves that require coordination of the movement of two or more specialized heavy-duty aircraft tow tractors and tow-bars in emergency situations.
Duties
Operate specialized heavy-duty tow tractors where maneuverability is restricted and accuracy is critical.
Inventories Life Support equipment (-21) upon arrival and departure of the PDM aircraft.
Operates diesel/gas/electric powered fork lifts trucks capable of lifting loads weighing less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches.
Stores and transports gaseous and liquid oxygen for servicing PDM aircraft.
Works with Hazardous materials and/or generates hazardous waste and complies with safety rules and procedures.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works primarily outside and operates vehicles in natural extremes of hot and cold weather conditions and high noise levels 85 decibels. May be exposed to JP-5/JP-8 jet fuel, chemical dust and sprays, dust, dirt, grease and/or fumes and to the possibility of cuts, bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents when loading and unloading 21 equipment. Follows prescribed safety practices and used safety equipment to avoid injury and possible hazards in the work area. Works on steep slopes and in rough terrain and may be subject to injury from falls or overturned tractors and equipment.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
