You will serve as an Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation) in the Regional Contracting Office (RCO) of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will assist in coordinating and facilitating diverse administrative processes and procedures and performing a variety of office management activities. You will serve as the RCO's Civilian Human Resources Office (CHRO) Administrative Liaison, and perform regular and recurring functions to support the processing of all civilian personnel actions for the RCO. You will coordinate and execute a wide range of administrative, training, and support service functions and office management activities. You will develop and maintain standard filing systems for control of access to and use of files, and for maintenance, transfer and disposition of records. You will screen callers/visitors and determines the need for meetings with the RCO Director or Deputy Director. You will provide for improvement of existing or development of new administrative and personnel practices and procedures to enhance organizational functioning. You will participate in the development of administrative and personnel management inputs to short- and long term planning and development processes, including review, analysis and evaluation of organizational support services and office management. You will handle routine inquiries and complaints and provide prompt and courteous answers to routine requests for information. You will perform work on various computer systems and software applications, web-based systems and databases. You will serve as the RCO Department Organizational Defense Travel Administrator, responsible for the administration of the Defense Travel System at the Department level and assists the Lead DTA with overall DTS administration for the Department. You will coordinate official travel and transportation requirements for the RCO Staff, including calculating expenses, creating/certifying travel orders using the (DTS), scheduling itineraries, booking hotel/car rental reservations, etc. You will serve as the RCO's Administrative Liaison, assisting the management of the RCO in preparing all personnel action requests, tracking hiring actions and submitting all requests through the Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS).

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying a variety of orders and directives applicable to administration, human resources, training and support services/functions and office management procedures. I am able to communicate well both orally and in writing. Specialized experience must include performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Identifying developmental and training needs and providing/arranging needed development and training; 2) Utilizing a comprehensive knowledge of DCPDS and the procedures used to initiate, process, and monitor Requests for Personnel Actions (RPAs) such as recruitment actions, promotions, position description reclassifications, reassignments, and other administrative personnel actions; 3) Applying a knowledge of business correspondence management procedures/formats and English grammar sufficient to review draft documents for any necessary corrections, and composing replies to official correspondence; 4) Interpreting and applying regulations to provide advice and solve specific problems; 5) Applying a comprehensive knowledge of the Defense Travel System (DTS), travel regulations and procedures used in the administration of travel; and 6) Utilizing various filing systems used for maintaining official records and files.
