The employee serves as a Management and Program Analyst and possesses a high degree of analytical ability to research the effectiveness and compliance of Facilities Management with the Joint Commission, Department of Veteran Affairs Central Office (VACO), and other compliance/accrediting entities. The position is located at the VA Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include but may not be limited to: Manages all Facilities related compliance activities in support of the Life Safety (LS) and Environment of Care (EOC) chapters of the Joint Commission manual. Provides direction and guidance in the execution of compliance related work with Construction officers and in the development of contracts within Facilities Management. Ensures VA Policies and Federal Laws are followed. Utilizes knowledge of accrediting bodies to include Joint Commission, Office of Safety Health Environment, Green environmental management, OSHA, and all internal VA evaluation and Office of the Inspector General investigations. Analyzes inspection reports from a variety of sources to identify areas of consistent weakness to proactively address shortcomings. Serves on a variety of inspection teams to include EOC, Construction Rounds, and Mental Health Compliance Team to evaluate the current status of all areas of the Medical Center. Prepares and maintains reports for compliance programs. Maintains documentation files in support of all Facilities Management Service related compliance programs. Develops and institutes preventive maintenance requirements for equipment related to the compliance program. Develops, implements, and updates local policies. Ensures all compliance findings and recommendations are based upon analysis of work observations, review of safety records or similar documentation, research, studies and applications standards. Provides status reports to service line and advises supervisors of specific areas that need attention. Attends all accreditation related meetings requiring a team representative. Maintains responsibility for increasing the effectiveness of the facilities organization by ensuring that it remains compliant with all applicable regulatory and compliance standards. Interacts and communicates with administrative and clinical staff, leadership, individuals from the VISN, the public (contractors and vendors both potential and actual), and other government agencies. Performs other duties as assigned. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires at least one year of experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Management & Program Analyst position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience include utilizing knowledge of accrediting bodies such as The Joint Commission to ensure compliance with policies/laws/directives; analyzing and evaluating data; and preparing reports.
