About the Position: This position is located in the Uniform Business Office, Patient Administration Division, at Irwin Army Community Hospital, Fort Riley, Kansas.
Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation.
Duties
Assure all medical billing processes are built around sufficient internal controls.
Insure compliance with required billing and follow-up regulations and guidelines.
Responsible for ensuring records of billed claims and claim actions have adequate audit trails.
Perform all aspects of medical billing and claim management assuring compliance with billing and collection policies and procedures.
Review insurance payments and correspondence.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of monthly and quarterly reports submitted for insurance reimbursement.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing billing, collecting, and/or depositing of funds for a medical facility, conducting audits of patient accounts, and ensuring billing and collection procedures comply with facility regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
