About the Position:
This position is located at Fort Riley, Kansas.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.
Duties
Research eligibility information through the Defense Eligibility Enrollment System (DEERS) and identifies services that are required to be billed directly to the patient and/or other agencies.
Obtain copies of any required orders or authorizations.
Maintain and provide complete reliable records of all financial transactions including collections and deposits.
Complete a variety of financial transactions related to patient accounts and prepares reports for a variety of chargeable transactions.
Use a personal computer terminal to maintain accounts data in automated spreadsheets.
Maintain section security, opening and closing the service window, staffs access door, and the vault.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This is a DoD Financial Management position. The incumbent must complete training and meet position requirements for certification at Level 1 within 2 years of appointment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes collecting payments from insurance companies; examining and processing claims; and utilizing an automated system to maintain accounts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution education for experience is permitted.
