Duties
Produces a variety of reporting products to present and visualize results from analysis of oil, gas, coal, or other energy natural resources including cartographic products, web-based maps, charts, graphs, and related reports.
Designs, develops, uses the GIS database including the integration of geospatial reference data and metadata from many sources into a centralized geodatabase for the ONRR GIS program.
Works with a diverse group of resource specialists, planners, and managers to coordinate and implement GIS applications.
Participates in the development of GIS metadata standards and adherence to IT security requirements in accordance with all departmental policies.
Qualifications
At the GS-12 level, you must meet the following qualification:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position includes: Analyzing spatial data while using common geographic information systems, software and techniques; compiling and maintaining spatial and non-spatial data from a variety of sources for use in analysis activities; defining requirements and designing new cloud-based spatial tools for analysis, and evaluating results; maintaining comprehensive information in a database or information management system; applying a variety of tools, techniques, and strategies to resolve problems and issues.
At the GS-13 level, you must meet the following qualification:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position includes: Analyzing situations where geospatial analysis is required and conducting research and data collection to move forward with developing and creating solutions using geographic information systems; demonstrating ability to implement these solutions in a manner that allows for delivery of spatial and non-spatial data to appropriate audiences; participating in design, review, modification, and testing of cloud-based spatial systems and tools; developing queries and scripts to extract spatial and non-spatial data from complex and disparate data storage locations; working diplomatically with various offices and personnel from various agencies or companies, and developing and delivering guidance or presenting the use of spatial products and cloud-based GIS.

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
