The incumbent serves as Supervisory Medical Management Specialist - and reports to the chief of medical service. In this capacity the incumbent provides administrative direction for all areas including program management, compliance with VHA, VISN, JCAHO, and medical center regulations/guidelines .Management activities are based on a broad knowledge of management and healthcare administration principles, VHA regulations, policies and procedures.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Providing budget and financial management.
Provides orientation for new staff.
Evaluating work performance of subordinates, gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employee on both work and administrative matters.
Working closely with the Service Chief and others in implementing and evaluating policies, plans, and internal operational systems.
Leading projects from initiation to completion and presenting the results to senior leadership throughout the Medical Center.
Manages all administrative aspects of the Medical Service, Human resource management, clinic reviews, grid changes, clinic cancellations, Union issues, guidance on policy, procedures, and directives.
Collecting and analyzing data from a variety of sources, measuring results, and reporting findings.
Working with various boards to coordinate regular committee meetings, ensuring all event management steps are completed.
Processing new employees by requesting necessary equipment government issues laptop, cellphone, PIV card, and assure that all program access is complete.
Acting as the liaison with the human resources office concerning personnel-related matters.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/28/2024.Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-9. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-9 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Manages all administrative aspects of Medical Service such as clinic reviews, grid changes, and clinic cancellations;
Provides guidance on policy, procedures, and directives;
Evaluates employee performance;
Resolves personnel issues within the Medical Service line;
Delegates workload among the staff.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
