About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Plans and Operations Division, in Doral, Florida.

Duties

Function as consultant and advisor to the Director of Logistics and Plans and Operations Chief with responsibility to assist in planning and coordinating matters pertaining to material and property management. Plan and coordinate the most effective methods and procedures to ensure and expedite the smooth integration of all procurement, supply management, maintenance, and transportation. Coordinate contingency and exercise planning with all logistics elements. Evaluate logistics doctrine, plans, policies, and operations. Provide input and review of readiness data for a variety of logistics elements and in concurrence with the Commander, assist in preparation of the Directorate readiness briefing to the Army Field Support Brigade Commander. Recommend and develop plans and programs for new mission improvement and actions necessary to meet significant changes in workload including resource and compatibility of plans. Make recommendations on matters concerning the development, refinement, and improvement of programs of the Director of Logistics. Serve as the Government Purchase Card Billing Official and the Alternate Billing Official. Assemble, collate, and maintain descriptive information on material, property management, transportation, and all other logistical requirements. Prepare charts, documents, and reference data on logistical operations.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Planning, coordinating, and/or evaluating logistical actions; 2) Planning and/or coordinating logistical support for deployments, exercises, or contingencies; 3) Recommending changes or improvements to logistical policies and/or procedures; 4) Applying knowledge of financial resource management (i.e. utilizing a government purchase card, conducting financial audits, creating purchase requests/orders) to complete assignments; and 5) Completing human resources tasks such as writing job descriptions and/or processing hiring actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). -OR- Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or another related field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
