You will serve as an Equipment, Facilities, and Services Specialist. You will perform duties to manage and oversee day-to-day operations of test equipment and facilities; ensuring that relevant maintenance, replacement, repairs, upgrades, and modifications occur to assure a state of operational readiness. Capturing and maintaining the critical core technical and operational knowledge to support core competencies in the wind tunnel technologies for NASA, other government agencies, and industry.
Duties
Maintain test and facility operation and maintenance, of all aspect of the Wind Tunnel function including but not limited to operation, maintenance, test integration, planning, schedule, impact, task needs, priorities, risk, and limitation.
Provide mentoring, guidance, training and technical oversight to civil servants and support service contractors to Wind Tunnel testing branch technicians with interaction with engineers.
Provide technical expertise to develop core competencies but not limited to maintain and develop test plans, operation plans, tunnel operator training process, capability enhancement, facility optimization and equipment, and capture lessons learned.
Provide core competencies on logistic principles of but not limited to equipment, tools, stock, acquisitioning, proper certifications, storage, disposal, delivery, transportation, excessing, and labeling.
Provide technical and hands on leadership, professionally across in-house civil servant and support service contractor staff, support service groups, and customers as a Wind Tunnel subject matter expert in support of operation, and maintenance needs.
Develop and maintain wind tunnel operator procedure and training, teaching new technicians so they can pass down the knowledge to other technicians in the future, keeping core needs. Advocate for training that will enhance and keep the needed skills.
Maintain professional and open dialog to keep branch management and the Facility Manager informed on all issues including but not limited to schedule impacts, repairs, maintenance plans, upgrades, conflicts, staffing needs and funding needs.
Understand and maintain the security levels of the wind tunnels for example but not limited to zoned area, signage, briefings, picture protocols, Lenel, Medco, sign in/out procedures, escorting, and tours.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
GS-13: To qualify at the GS-13 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
Operating and collaborating with internal/external resources to ensure tunnel operation;
Ensuring that relevant maintenance, replacement, repairs, and/or modifications occur to assure a state of operational readiness;
Coordinating and maintaining operation and maintenance schedules with stakeholders to meet mission critical project milestones and to support organizational missions.
