Serves as an Airway Transportation System Specialist (Instructor) within the Technical Operations Training Division at the FAA Academy.

Duties

Develops course control documents/training material and/or conducts theoretical and practical training on assigned National Airspace System (NAS) equipment and systems for field technical experts involved with the installation and maintenance of one or more NAS systems. The NAS equipment, services and systems include some or all of the following: Navigation and Landing Systems, Communications, Terminal and EnRoute Radar, Terminal Automation, EnRoute Automation, NAS Information Services, and ARTCC and GNAS Environmental. Participates in and/or conducts special projects or staff studies concerning the technical or administrative aspects of the training program function.

• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position at the FG/GS 13 (FV-I) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the FG/GS-12 (FV-H) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrates an extensive knowledge of and experience in the technology, system interrelationships, and management of civilian or military automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems. Experience in the operational maintenance in one or more of the following functional areas: Navigation and Landing Systems, Communications, Terminal and EnRoute Radar, Terminal Automation, EnRoute Automation, NAS Information Services, and ARTCC and GNAS Environmental.Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their Work History. Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.
