Duties
You will plan, direct, and administer the work of the Department.
You will develop resource estimates and monitor the cost and status of assigned work in progress within the Department, while ensuring that projects are produced on schedule.
You will be responsible for carrying out the policies and for communicating support of these policies to subordinates.
You will supervise the implementation of new system hardware and software and develops operating procedures.
You will oversee configuration and installation of network equipment and changing the components of existing equipment for efficient operation.
You will develop and maintain procedures for networks, system operations, and product assembly and installation.
You will supervise computer specialists conducting testing to insure operability, efficiency, and compliance with existing standards.
You will provide ongoing support, resolution of problems, and recovery of operating malfunctions involving various hardware components and software failures.
You will survey and evaluate network usage, user complaints, traffic interruptions or other communication issues, hardware and software capabilities, and other relevant factors.
You will develop proposals involving a variety of highly specialized systems and state-of-the-art enhancements designed to meet unique local requirements and improve operational efficiency.
You will analyze data and prepare a project synopsis which compares alternatives in terms of cost, time, necessary equipment and staff.
You will provide advice to decision makers in setting project goals and establishing priorities to support the organizational mission.
You will monitor, evaluate, and coordinate assigned functions and brief management officials on project status.
You will evaluate impacts of new technologies on current systems and policies, assess performance and effectiveness of new or substantially modified systems.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Mentoring and advising on alternative approaches in application system development and/or problem resolution related to networks and/or telecommunications, developing design techniques (including data and process modeling), and applying analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to determine program effectiveness (to develop new or modified work methods and ability to analyze and resolve complex problems).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
