Duties
Operate an ultrasound scanning system.
Assist staff radiologist or OB/GYN in sonohysterograms during examinations.
Set up and adjust equipment used to generate images necessary for requested studies.
Utilize the Radiology Department computer system to schedule patients for examinations.
Evaluate the nature of critical and emergency procedures and rearranges patient priorities to accommodate them.
Perform a full range of diagnostic ultrasonic examinations to include but not limited to both diagnostic radiologic and sonographic services.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays. and rotating shifts.
- Must receive and maintain appropriate vaccination against seasonal influenza on an annual basis.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds without assistance.
- Physical examination is required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements and be registry eligible for one of the following ARDMS, RDMS, or ARRT Sonography.
- Appointment may be subject toa suitability or fitness determination to work with children under 18.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a wide variety of ultrasound examinations/studies to include; obstetrical, pelvic, abdominal, chest, pediatric, thyroid, renal, testicular, small parts, carotid/ abdominal aorta vascular, duplex studies of the upper and lower extremities and duplex of the liver. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
