About the Position: This position is located in the Radiology Department, Directorate of Clinical Support Services, Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, NC. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Operates an ultrasound scanning system, including control console, multi-image display, cutaneous transducers and endocavitary transducers to produce images. Confers with radiologists to establish requirements of nonstandard examinations and determines technical factors, and positioning to satisfy the requirements. Maintains daily and weekly logs of quality assurance tests. Duties may also include assisting staff radiologist or OB/Gyn in sonohysterogram; perform penile doppler studies, examination of liver and renal transplants, and intra-operative ultrasound. Responsible for the indoctrination and training of selected personnel in ultrasound technology. Utilizes the Radiology Department computer system to schedule patients for examinations. Performs other ultrasound related duties to include reception and scheduling as assigned by the Radiologist or ultrasound supervisor.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 44 lbs

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of ultrasound examinations of human patients; setting up the exam room or performing portable ultrasound examinations; and educating patients or staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
