The purpose of the Home Care Programs Home Based Primary Care and Homemaker/Home Health Aide is to provide home health services to eligible veterans when found to be necessary or appropriate for the effective and economical treatment of the veteran's medical condition/disability. The selectee is expected to serve as a liaison for the GEC to all other services of the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (BPVAHCS), affiliations and the general public to represent administratively these programs.
Duties
The selectee provides a full range of office and administrative functions related to the planning and operations of the Home Based Primary Care and Homemaker/ Home Health Aide Programs.
Plans, develops, and coordinates all administrative functions essential to program implementation and the delivery of services including initiation of corrective action.
Manages the Home Based Primary Care Information System, collecting data, submitting reports, and correcting errors.
Refers patients to community agencies to provide homemaker/home health aide services.
Provides assistance and consultation to home health care agencies involved in the Homemaker/ Home Health Aide Program regarding timely submission of invoices, cost for Homemaker/Home Health Aide services, billing issues, duration of services, and need for quarterly summaries.
Assists in responses to requests for special information from the offices of VACO, VISN, medical center director, Chief of Staff, and ACS for Geriatrics, Rehabilitation & Extended Care.
Provides the technical assistance in revising program policies.
Performs timekeeping duties for the HBPC staff through the electronic timekeeping system.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/03/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to experience in Geriatrics Home Based Primary Care and or PACT Clinic, and preference in working with spreadsheets in Microsoft Office, specific knowledge of policies, procedures, and objectives of the Home Based Primary Care and Homemaker/Home Health Aide Programs, working knowledge of VA eligibility, medical center policies and patient administration, establishment and maintenance of accurate filing systems for pertinent data, manuals and reports.
