NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities.The Division of Public Programs supports projects in museums, historical organizations, libraries, public broadcasting, and related agencies as part of the division's efforts to foster public engagement in and appreciation of the humanities.
Duties
Participating in the daily administration of program grants and providing assistance in preparing for meetings of the National Council.
Examining the proposals and applications for adequacy of data.
Participating in the review and processing of grant applications.
Writing descriptive abstracts, reports, and articles.
Evaluating grant projects and grant programs and developing qualitative and quantitative reports on program outcomes.
Advising prospective applicants by letter, telephone, and in person.

At the GS-11 level Qualified candidates must possess:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level or equivalent experience.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: (1) assisting in the administration of cultural heritage or public humanities programs; (2) assisting in the evaluation of humanities related projects, programs, and administrative problems; (3) participating in the review, analysis, and administration of grant applications and grant proposals for public humanities or cultural heritage programs; (4) utilizing computer and database applications to analyze metrics and data; (5) making presentations to staff and senior leadership; writing articles, newsletters, or website posts on humanities topics.

3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
Education
A bachelor's degree in a discipline of the humanities is required (a Ph.D. is preferred).
