About the Position: Join us at the United States Southern Command. We provide direct support to a four-star unified Combatant Commander, but are compact enough that our staff also works with senior leadership representatives of our inter-service, inter-agency and (public and private) international partner organizations. Our contribution to furthering our country's relationships with South and Central American nations and peoples are substantial.
Duties
Oversee the execution of USSOUTHCOM's maintenance program to analyze trends and provide insights to improve efficiency and enhance total force readiness.
Conduct assessments and inventory reviews in conjunction with partners to uphold compliance standards and optimize parts management.
Develop comprehensive reports and briefings for senior leadership, incorporating insights from maintenance trend analysis to inform decision-making.
Advocate for USSOUTHCOM's interests in maintenance policy forums.
Integrate air, ground, and sea equipment maintenance with other logistical functions in planning and strategy documents.
Spearhead readiness initiatives to bolster interoperability in disaster preparedness, humanitarian assistance, and peacekeeping operations.
Monitor allied and partner nations' (APN) readiness in logistics and maintenance identifying weaknesses to collaborate on corrective actions.
Establish methods to track progress and performance of logistics and maintenance programs.
Synchronize engagements to build APN logistics and maintenance capacity.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- The incumbent may be required to work nonstandard duty hours (e.g., shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime-both scheduled and unscheduled.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Experience in logistics principles, practices, and regulations, related to aviation and ground equipment maintenance. 2) Monitor logistics and maintenance programs, ensuring they meet program objectives. 3) Written and verbal communication skills to convey complex logistics and maintenance information to both technical and non-technical audiences. 4) Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including Allied and Partner Nations, service components, and interagency partners. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
