This position is located within the Emergency Department of the Whiteriver Service Unit. The unit for which the incumbent is responsible is the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department is a department that provides emergency medical care to patients across the life span with a variety of diagnosis and conditions from critical to non-critical. This position is located in Whiteriver, AZ.
Duties
Primary responsibilities of this position are to provide supervision, leadership, and direction of subordinate staff on the Emergency Department.
Supervisory functions: Services as Supervisory Clinical Nurse (Assistant) with responsibilities of assuring that nursing care is provided and for accomplishment of work planning, direction and performance evaluation.
Assures nursing capabilities, staffing, and equipment requirements to meet the work demands, safety requirements, and accreditation standards.
Performs nursing care duties as needed to maintain nursing skills and cover staffing shortages.
Provides skilled and comprehensive nursing care to the patients, who because of the extensiveness and complexity of their condition require frequent for conditions, which may require emergency measures.
Qualifications

Education
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure
For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (external link). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
GS-0610-11 Grade Level: At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program. Examples Include: Providing leadership, direction, and technical expertise in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of nursing services for the benefit and provision of safe comprehensive care; developing and updating unit specific guidelines, policies, protocols and other informational materials; evaluate nursing care and to ensure a safe, clean, operational environment for patients, staff, and visitors; participates in performance improvement projects, infection control program, and risk management issues.
OR
Completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
